Ronnie posted in the group We Are More Than Our Mental Health
I’m not one to talk about food much, in fact, I hate it. If it were up to me we’d get our nutrition via photosynthesis.
But since we can’t, they say that eating also has an impact on your mental health. That’s something I struggle with, especially because of my depression and bipolar disorder. I either eat way too much or not enough because of the shame I get from too much.
That being said, I’ve started to find a middle ground. Not only am I eating healthier but I’m losing weight on top of that. So do I believe the experts when they say eating habits are tied to mental health? Absolutely. I have never felt this good since the last time I lost weight which was last year. Mentally I feel happier and more focused. More ‘alive’ I guess you could say.
My hope for you all is that you stay well, no matter how you do it. We can be happy in many ways, whether it’s eating healthy or exercising, or finding enjoyment in other aspects of life. The important thing is we stay true to ourselves no matter what form that may take.
It always comes back to finding that new joy. Lately, I’ve found mine.

- Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
- Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer
