I don’t know how you all feel about the whole Roe v. Wade being overturned issue. Thankfully we’re all here to discuss our views without judgment, criticism, or hostility.

My mental health has now come into question.

Last year I contemplated the idea of having a kid. Now though it’s a risk I’m not willing to take. What science there is out there talks about how women with bipolar disorder have a higher chance of a miscarriage, more so if someone has multiple psychiatric disorders. In my case, I have BD, GAD, and Severe Depression.

It’s unfortunate to an extent. I don’t want to have a kid, it was just a passing thought last year, but just knowing the fact that the odds are now stacked against me because our government even considers miscarriages as a form of abortion is sickening. Those can’t be helped sometimes so for the government to invade a woman’s privacy just to check if it was natural or not- I have no words.

I’m okay with not having kids, it was just something I considered last year but now it’s terrifying knowing that my odds aren’t great. Even IVF is going to possibly be threatened which only adds to my stress and de-value as a woman, at least from my point of view.

Anyways, just had to get this all out. Hope that’s okay and I would love to hear your all’s thoughts.

    • I’m not happy about it either. We should have the right to decide what we want to do with our bodies. Some people could die if they don’t get an abortion. It’s horrible. Like I understand people don’t want to kill babies but as far as I know it’s actually not a baby yet from what I read.

    • I wanted to be a mother someday but I also have this fear that I’m going to die during childbirth because I’m not that tall and my body is small , plus sometimes breathing issues so I honestly don’t think I can hold a baby in me tbh. So if I get pregnant I might have to make the hard decision of getting an abortion

    • If I do get a child , I’ll probably just adopt.

    • It angers me that in the 21st century there are still so many cracks. The overturning of Roe V Wade is heart breaking. It saddens me that women who may need an abortion due to their personal circumstances are no longer allowed to get one. The world should not be moving backwards, we should be moving forward to create the change the world really needs. I stand with all of you!!

    • Thanks for sharing @ronnie! And I have to share my anger too @adrienne1995 100% I feel this SCOTUS decision set us way way way back, and I wonder how this will role out. I’m hoping this was a wake-up call for us to go out and get out the vote.

      • Angelo, Adrienne, and All- Certainly sharing my same feelings as you all may have. It’s insane. My mom made an excellent point earlier. We all need to find ways of coping with this new reality and apparently I’ve found mine. I’ve mentioned how I was wrongly accused for nothing but a simple accident (hit a person with a shopping cart by accident and got arrested for it.) Anyways, for 3 years I was not allowed to leave the city. Though it’s not the same thing, the feeling I had from back then is the same feeling I have with this whole Roe v. Wade issue- the feeling of being forced and prevented from doing something because a higher authority tells you not to do something. It’s a suffocating feeling, helpless even, like my hands are tied behind my back all over again. We all need our own ways to cope to be sure. Funny how I can relate my ordeal to something even worse.

        • What happened to you and the shopping cart is infuriating @ronnie. How terrible it is to live with an injustice—I can only imagine how powerless that feels 🙁

          • Angelo, certainly the worst moment in my life. 10 hrs in jail plus everything else- it was insane. Total injustice and a waste of tax dollars on something so minor.

    • Totally agree, Sadie. I have many reasons for not having kids but my mental health certainly is among its ranks. Still, the fact that women are now seen as breeders and incubators is disgusting. No one should have a right to another person’s body. You’d think this country would have evolved but we’re going back 200 years which makes no sense what so ever.
