On his right forearm, East of Eli frontman Nathan West proudly brandishes the phrase, “Music is medicine for the soul.” It echoes loudly as a personal and artistic mantra for the singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and philanthropist. As such, his music extracts and excavates identifiable emotion from the union of Americana songcraft, electronic unpredictability, and rock ballast.
Just above this ever-changing soundscape, he holds nothing back lyrically and dispenses a sonic remedy of his own.
“To me, art is not about my own glory or being famous,” he affirms. “I believe you can utilize creativity to legitimately influence change and help people in the world. That’s what I want, and what I will continuously aspire to do through my music.
