I’m not a religious person by any means but last night (9/22), I saw Casting Crowns in concert. It was amazing!

I had not been to a concert since EOE in 2018. I didn’t go to any in 2019 and then covid hit. For a first concert since then, I’m glad it was CC. It could not have been any better. They did a good mix of their inspirational music combined with the religious stuff so it worked out and didn’t bother me.

I’ve been listening to them for 20 years (has it really been that long? That’s insane!). A friend got me into them when we were just 14. Even went to their Lifesong concert together.

I’ve seen Casting Crowns 5 or 6 times now. I found some old photos so the last time I saw them was in 2016!

Truly an amazing band, religious or not. They certainly helped me through a lot of my darkest times. So maybe it’s not about religion, maybe it’s that one song, that one group/artist, that can end up saving a life. They’ve certainly saved mine these past 20 years.

    • I love that you got to see live music again since the pandemic, and even better that it’s a band you’ve been listening to for years! The thing I love about music is that it’s a constant, but the meanings of the songs can change depending on where you are in life. A single song can mean so many different things to different people, and we all take what we need at that point in time regardless of the song’s true meaning. Creating music is one thing, but listening is a whole different ball game. So happy you got to see a live show.

      • I totally agree with what you mean about a song changing depending on life. Take EOE for example. I used to love ‘The Siege.’ It’s one of my favorites but then I went through one of the hardest experiences of my life and it literally saved my life. I kept repeating the song lyrics to myself and writing them on the wall with my finger (got arrested for something that wasn’t my fault) so while in jail, it was the only thing that got me through it. I was not only a fan of the song before but it became a lifeline and one I hold dearly now because as I said, it saved my life.
