Together We Can

We allow for each other to be our authentic selves. There’s no room for judgment, just curiosity. We strive to help each other grow towards the best versions of ourselves every day. The way we approach our personal relationship is the way we approach all relationships in our lives; with the question, ‘how can I engage in this relationship to allow for everyone to flourish?’ as a basis for relational development. We have found that approaching relationships with honesty and open communication naturally creates a space for growth to occur. The deep connection we have in our relationship allows for greater connections to others.

Whether we realize it or not, each encounter with another person is a relationship. The relationship you have with the coffee shop barista may look very different than the relationship you have with a family member—but each of these ‘micro-relationships’ offers a chance to reflect on where we are in that moment. Do you make eye contact? Do you smile? Are you present? You have a relationship with the person you walk by heading to class or work, even if you don’t know their name. How we engage with each of our relationships, with family, friends, or strangers speaks volumes about how we are feeling inside ourselves.

One of the most important relationships is the one you have with yourself. That’s why we are here. To encourage the Create Change community to not only actively engage in a relationship with others, but with yourselves. Being present, open, and receptive with ourselves allows for growth. That absolutely looks different for everyone; however, it’s important to pay attention to the words we tell ourselves, and feelings we have within our relationships. We must remain curious not only with our minds, but with our hearts.

‘Together we can.’ You might ask, why the name? Well, we feel like this not only begins to describe the type of relationships we have, but this extends to the whole Create Change community, because indeed… together, we can create change. We are all capable of helping the world, regardless of what our limitations and fears may be. We have the power to affect our reality, no matter how small the action or conversation we are having may seem. Together, starting with our relationships, we can create change.
