Michael HollowayParticipantI hope people don’t think I’m making light of this serious situation (I’m a suicide attempt survivor myself), but music can really help in my beliefs and opinions. Amy Grant’s song You’re Not Alone has lyrics I feel can really help in times of crisis.
“I saw you walking by yourself
Your eyes were crying out for help
I know you feel your pain is more
Than anyone’s been hurt before
I know love hurts when it’s over
If you wanna cry it’s all right
You’re like a fallen soldier
But you just can’t lay down and dieYou’ve got to remember you’re not alone in this world
Always remember you’re not alone in this worldThe moment that I looked at you
I recognized the killing truth
You really think there’s no way out
But if you let me, I can help you now
Through all these shattered emotions
There’s a lesson to learn
So come on let me hold you closer
Love can soothe what love has burnedYou’ve got to remember you’re not alone in this world
Always remember you’re not alone in this world
You’ve got to remember
Never alone, never alone, never, never aloneI got to tell you baby
Through all these shattered emotions
There’s a lesson to learn
So come on let me hold you closer
Love can soothe what love has burnedYou’ve got to remember you’re not alone in this world
Always remember you’re not alone in this worldYou’ve got to remember (got to remember) you’re not alone in this world
Always remember (always remember)
You’re not alone in this world”.Cheers, Mikey
Michael HollowayParticipantI am so glad that Create Change have added this section to the forum. I must confess that due to illness and other personal problems and the accumulation of years of emotional scars caused by excessive bullying as a child because people thought I was “different”, I tried to commit suicide a few years back because of several months of the most severe depression ever. Thanks to a lovely lady named Diana, I was given the kind of emotional help that gave me the courage to bounce back. I’m still far from completely healed, but I feel better than I did at that time. Occasionally, I do get depressed, but helping other people at Create Change and Twitter have given me a sense of purpose. I hope I can do more and serve as an ambassador for Create Change.
