I would love to get back into writing, especially fanfiction; but I just haven’t been feeling that drive in months. It’s really frustrating; because years ago, fanfiction used to be such an escape for me. Nowadays, I feel like there’s so much negativity all around that it really ruins something that was once good.

Thanks for your advice, Carson! I really miss writing fanfiction because fandoms were a major escape for me when I’d been younger. I used to *enjoy* writing fanfiction and it was a nice bonus when anonymous internet users gave positive feedback. But today when I go on FFN or AO3, I see a lot of toxic activity by those who are one-track in mind when it comes to what should be written in that fandom; and whatever goes against it, they get negative reviews or those users will flood the first page so the diverse story gets pushed to the second page. People are so mean. 🙁

I’m in a writing slump too. The last time I wrote fanfic was Sept. 9th. So it’s been about a month. It doesn’t help that I find my creativity is connected to my bipolar disorder. so when I’m stable it’s like I just can’t produce anything whereas if my meds are off or I’m manic then I’m like a rocket taking off and I can write like crazy. I know that’s probably not the same for you but that’s what I have to go on based off my experience.

My advice is to try to sit down with a pen and paper or a computer, whichever you feel most comfortable with, and start writing whatever comes to mind. Don’t worry about if it’s “good” or not. Just start writing. Create your perfect world without any of the negativity that’s holding you back.😊
