Sometimes I know what you mean, Riley. What usually helps me is keeping a pen and paper nearby or pulling out my notes on my phone. Ever the writer in me. We have to do discussions online for class and people/classmates are barely writing 8 sentences or less for their responses. And here I am writing like 4 1/2 paragraphs for me. I can relate. I find that if it is a topic I can relate too, I will ramble on. I love this idea – music is a big inspiration for the stories I want to create, especially lyrics. I’m currently writing a piece that has a drummer as the main character and I find so much joy and inspiration by creating playlists of what music they like, what music they play etc.
