Last year I managed to read 10 books, and I know that’s not many to some, but for me it was amazing. I used to read so much when I was younger, managing to get through books in a day. I’m trying to build myself back up into it and last year definitely was a win.
This year, I am completely burnt out. I really feel reading would help me relax and actually sit still for 5 minutes, but I am struggling so much to focus on what I’m reading.
Does anyone have any tips? I am reading little and trying often, but it’s always nice to have someone else’s view 🙂
Currently reading Priory of the Orange Tree (yes I know it’s huge, I’ve split it up into sections, and it’s not the size that’s challenging) and also have a graphic novel sitting there waiting for me.

(part 2): Riley, what I usually do is that I’ll read some of the book because I might have a hard time with it but even if I don’t finish it, it’s no big deal. I still will count it towards my reading numbers. POAOT is a good book. While I haven’t read it, I find it admirable that people can read that long of a book even if it’s a DNF. I used to read long books, but over time it got more difficult. Another thing I do to, and I don’t know if you have objections is to annotate your books. It takes even longer to read, but I find that if I annotate it becomes easier to remember things and I can always go back to certain parts of the book incase I forget. Either highlight, underline, there are even transparent sticky notes in case you don’t want to actually write in the book. Sorry this reply was so long.

That’s one thing that bothers me, the fact that so many people have the need to compete with each other when it comes to how many books a person reads. 10 books is great. You have to do what works for you. It shouldn’t matter how many a person reads in a year, ultimately it’s about the joy of reading. (part 1)
