Earlier this week I asked a question about how you reconnect with yourself. Adrienne followed up asking how the ways you reconnect have changed.

My mom is a teacher so at the end of summer vacation I go with her to help her set up her classroom for the school year. I have been doing this since I was about 5 years old, I will be 25 this year. Well a couple weeks ago when my mom went back to work we took my cousin with us and she drew these pictures on the whiteboard in my mom’s classroom.

For me this was a full circle moment and a way to reconnect with myself. It made me happy to be able to share an activity from my childhood with the next generation.

    • Carson, that is so cool. I’ve been reconnecting with myself through my writing. My writing hasn’t been easy, especially because it is so personal and I’m showcasing a lot of vulnerability, but I think it’s ultimately worth it. If I can help one person or open up one person’s eyes to see another’s struggles, then all the more reason to share it.

      • I feel the same way when my writing gets tough. If it matters to just one person, it’s worth it. Sometimes it’s okay if that one person is YOU. I’m sure your writing will matter to other people because when vulnerability is infused into words, those words tend to shine bright with a special kind of magic.
