So for July I hit the worst reading slump I’ve ever been in with having read only 3 books. Total shame on my part. I’m chalking it up to the heat though. With temps over 100 (F), it’s been too hot to even do anything.
I recently got a haul of some new books so I’m hoping that they will help me come August. Something to look forward to.
Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee and The Mists of Avalon will both be re-reads. But the others are completely new to me.

Debbie, Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee is pretty good so far. I read it back in middle school so there’s a lot I have forgotten about over the years, but as I read it my memory gets refreshed so I’m able to recognize people and events that I hadn’t in a while. And yes, reading is relaxing for me too, but the heat just has this way of making me feel sluggish which is unfortunate.

Ronnie
Shy and quiet reader. Shy and quiet writer.
Aside from being a fangirl, I am an avid reader to the extreme. I converted an old bedroom into a library so much of my time is spent in it. I read a variety of genres but my main genre is Non-Fiction and a sub-genre of Native American studies.
My top 3 books of all time:
- Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
- Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer
- The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley

Hir Ronnie, how was “Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee”? I agree with you about the heat, I find myself more tired and reading is so relaxing for me, I am not speeding through the books. I like to sit outside and read and that isn’t happening right now.
